Back to St. John’s by popular demand is the bluegrass band Soggy Prairie! It’s been three years since this dynamic group of entertainers has graced our sanctuary. They are returning as part of our new Center Stage Series, which seeks to bring cultural events to the Evansville community, hosted by St. John’s. Bluegrass is a unique American genre of music, born in Appalachia, with influences from Scottish ballads, Irish dance tunes, blues, jazz, and church music. Its high-energy sound features acoustic string instruments. On Saturday, January 18, Soggy Prairie will take the stage at 7:00pm. The band from Sun Prairie began in 2002, and their mandolin player is one of St. John's favorites, Mr. Jim Kvalheim. Check out their music and story at soggyprairie.com.
This concert is part of a whole bluegrass weekend at St. John’s. In worship at all three services January 18 & 19, St. John's will be tappin' toes and clappin' hands, led by our Praise Team. After Saturday worship, a BBQ and cornbread meal will be served at 6:00pm. Meal reservations are $5/person. Concert tickets are available for $5 with a complimentary VIP Guest ticket for you to extend a caring invitation to someone beyond our St. John’s congregation. Tickets are on sale now.
