His parents called him Jesus. But the prophets, shepherds, wise men, and angels addressed him by other names---including Messiah, Savior, and Emmanuel. Join United Methodist Pastor Adam Hamilton as he explores the meaning behind these titles, what they tell us about the baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, and the significance of that Christ child for our lives today.
Like a lot of things during 2020, Advent will be very different from years past. As we head into winter with colder weather and decreased hours of daylight, we have an increased need to experience the hope and joy that comes to us in Christ Jesus, whose birth we await during the Advent season. Engaging deeply in worship and study in the weeks leading up to Christmas can help us remember and recommit to this hope and inspire us to bring that same gift of hope to others.
Over the four weeks of Advent, you are invited to engage in a virtual group study of Hamilton's book Incarnation. Groups will meet via videoconferencing on Sundays at 11am, Mondays at 9am, and Wednesdays at 7pm, beginning the week of November 29. If none of those times work, please sign up for the "I need another time" option. Sign up today! Books are available in the church office.
Too stressed to add another commitment to your calendar? Consider participating individually. Everyone in our congregation is invited to read Incarnation, watch the videos, and reflect on the discussion guide. Contact Amy Floan for your copy of the guide as well as how to log into Amplify Media for the videos.
We pray that our faith will grow so that together we might stand in awe of the Incarnation.
