St. John’s is a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation, which means that we strive to welcome all people as their full selves—including LGBTQ+ people. As part of our work to live into our RIC partner commitments, we will be offering a six-week adult education opportunity to continue our work to welcome, include, and celebrate LGBTQ+ people in our church. Each week will include a conversation with a different church leader including Pastor Matt, Pastor Jerry, Pastor George, Amy Floan, Ashley Bowman, and Vicar Kristofer, followed by time for questions, discussion, and conversation. We will explore scripture, Lutheran theology, and personal experience together. All are welcome, whether you are an expert in queer theology, or you are just hoping to learn what each letter in the LGBTQ+ acronym stands for. The series will take place on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00pm from June 16 to July 21, hosted by the St. John’s Social Justice Team. If you’d like to join in the conversation, please email Amy Floan (director@stjohns-lc.org) or Vicar Kristofer (vicar@stjohns-lc.org), or add your name to the sign-up sheet on the Ministry Table.
